Reminds Me of When We Were Dating

Something that Jed and I used to do when dating, was get up early and meet at a park to watch the sunrise. It was something fun to do because we'd normally be the only ones in the park and we'd bring a blanket and hot chocolate and snuggle on the slide and watch the sun come up. He even tried to propose during sunrise (but you can't see the sunrise from Temple Square).

A few months ago, Jed started telling Elijah that he has to go to bed to wake up the sun. It's worked out really nicely, too, because as soon as it gets dark Elijah tells us he needs to go to bed so he can wake the sun up, and there's no more fights over bedtime. But the past few weeks, Elijah has woken up before sunrise. He's normally up around 7 -7:30 and the sun hasn't risen until about 7:30.

Watching the sunrise is something we haven't gotten a chance to do since we've had kids and since Elijah is really into "waking" up the sun, I thought it would be a fun family activity, especially to do before daylight savings changed the sunrise to 6:30. So Friday morning, we got everyone dressed and went to the nearby park to watch the sunrise. The only thing is that there's trees everywhere, so we didn't get a good view of the sun rising, but we still had fun. Elijah thought it was so cool to be at the park by ourselves.

Plus there was fog, which is something he hasn't really seen too much of, but he had fun running around in it.

There was dew so everything was dripping wet, so that was another thing that Elijah got to learn about while at the park. His pants were soaked but he didn't want to leave. We bribed him with hot chocolate to get him into the car.

Another thing that Jed and I use to do when we were dating was go to a driving range and hit a bucket of balls. It's funny because it was one of the things that made me start thinking he could be a keeper. I had told him once that I wanted to go play golf sometime, because it was something that my grandpa did and I thought it would be fun to learn to do. Jed owned his own set of clubs so said he'd take me. And he did. I was a little surprised, because I was used to guys telling me that they'd take me to do something and never do it. I knew Jed was different.

Jed planned our date that night and decided it would be fun to go hit a bucket of balls at a nearby golf range. Wow! I'm out of practice! But it was fun and it was nice to remember back to when we were dating. I still had my camera in my purse from that morning so we were able to take some pictures too.

Jed's posing for me and I finally hit the ball past the 100 mark (have I mentioned how bad I am?) this is my golf sweater :)

After the driving range, we went to sushi. Oh how I love sushi!!! There's a new restaurant (Tokyo Steakhouse) that opened up next to us and they are amazing! Seriously, some of the best sushi ever. They don't have the biggest selection, but it's quality over quantity.
These are some of our wasabi art.

Mine is an elephant

and Jed's is a monkey (I colored it with soy sauce)
