Labor Day Weekend

Since we moved to Utah, Elijah has been asking to go to Antelope Island to see the buffalo. I can't exactly remember how it first came up but it's something that he would constantly ask to do. While I was pregnant I didn't really want to go since everyone always told us how badly it smelled there and with my super strong pregnancy nose it was something I wanted to avoid. We kept telling him we would go sometime but after the baby came. After having Ryker, I was watching were watching an animal show on t.v with Elijah and they featured bison and it reminded me (and Elijah) about our promise. Jed had the Friday before Labor Day off so we decided we would take advantage of it and go see the bison.

(side note: there are no buffalo in America, they are all bison. I learned that from watching the show with Elijah and it was constantly repeated by the workers at Antelope Island)

It was actually a really nice day for the most part and there weren't masses of bugs and the smell was gone so it was the perfect time to go. It did start to rain later in the afternoon, which turned into a wonderful thunderstorm in the middle of the night. Elijah got to see the bison and he still talks about it. He even draws pictures of them (which is more than cute). It was a nice little outing and it was just nice to get out of the house and enjoy the outdoors.

On Monday we took the kids to the Treehouse Museum in Ogden. It's such a cute place! It's probably one of my favorite kid places now. The best part was that that we got there just as "pirate day" started so the kids got to do a treasure hunt, get their faces painted, have sword fights, watch a pirate show and make their own pirate hats. The kids loved it. It was hard to keep them contained in just one area for too long. It was a really fun weekend.

I hope everyone else had a wonderful 3 day weekend!
