Here's some of our last views of California. I love all of the trees and the clouds were beautiful. It was the perfect picturesque view for us to capture our last moments in California.
As we crossed into Nevada I decided to take a small detour and stop by the Reno Temple. I wasn't thinking that today was Monday and so it was closed but the kids still had fun looking at the temple and playing on the gate. The Reno Temple is also a special temple for me since it was the first temple I had ever walked through since I went to the open house as a teenager with my family and friend. It was also where I received my endowments right before Jed and I were sealed in the Sacramento Temple the next day. I thought it would be fun just to show the kids and a nice brief rest.
The trip went by pretty fast (I sort of had a lead foot on the way back). I was going to make the trip in 8 1/2 hours (that's including 6 stops) but we had a little incident that made it still again a 10 hour trip. While we were at Wendover, our last stop, I was getting gas and Elijah decided to jump out to help. As he got out he locked the car and then closed the door. Unfortunately, not only was my purse including my wallet, phone, and keys still in the car, but Chloe was still strapped in her seat. I was able to call a tow truck and after waiting for 45 minutes, he finally came. It took another 45 minutes to get the van unlocked, and that was only because he was able to get to my keys and press the unlock button. Chloe was great through the whole thing. We tried to keep her happy by making funny faces and she would try to copy them.
This is Chloe afterwards trying on my new shoes. See, she's still my happy girl!
Matthew and I were endowed in Reno, too. Love that temple. So scary to have Chloe locked in! Good thing it's been cool! We'll miss ya!
