We All Scream For Ice Cream

I decided to throw Elijah and his friends an ice cream party while we were back visiting my mom. He has been so excited for this party. I'm not going to lie, so was I. I've been wanting an excuse to be able to throw a party or just have a project to do so this was a lot of fun to put together. I wasn't able to do everything that I had planned mainly because my mom doesn't have the supplies I needed and I didn't want to have to invest that much into a little party play date. It was still a lot of fun just to get together with everyone.

On a hot summer day the best thing for any little kid is ice cream. Even better than ice cream is enjoying it with friends. Even better than that is afterwards getting to go run around wild getting soaking wet!

I made a few topping to go with chocolate and vanilla ice cream. The kids totally dug the gummy bears and sprinkles the most. I also did some fruit toppings, more for the adults to enjoy. If anyone wants recipes you can visit my other blog here.

I decided to make some cupcakes to go with the party theme. (You know me, I'll find any reason to make cupcakes) They were rootbeer float cupcakes in ice cream cones. Elijah was so excited about these. He helped make them and frost them. He kept thinking that this was a birthday party so he really wanted to add candles. Chloe was really excited for the cupcakes too, which she decided to show me how excited she really was after I left her alone for one moment and came back to find chocolate cake and frosting trailing through the house and her face with a huge chocolaty grin on it.

It was so funny to see them clean their bowls of ice cream with it dripping all over themselves. You can see that Elijah was really into it since he was too impatient to even wait to use a spoon... that's how he got the sprinkles on his head :)

But the thing that I think was everyone's favorite wasn't the sweet treats, it was the spray bottles and bubbles. The kids also had fun running through the sprinklers. (It was a great way to clean them up after getting sticky from the ice cream)

This was one of my favorites:
My friend, Ashley's son was trying to reach the chocolate chips and next thing you know he's sitting on the back step with the entire bowl just as happy as can be. Then, so sweetly, he shared with Chloe and at one point was trying to feed her with the spoon. So cute!

Here are some more pictures of the all the kids:

Sam getting more gummy bears

 Isn't she so adorable?!

And Oliver jamming gummy bears into his mouth (see they were a big hit!)

Sariah and Peter finishing off their ice cream

Peter and Buddy getting some belly love

 They found the binoculars

Spray bottles are TONS better than water guns!

I just really liked this picture of Chloe

I also wanted to say a special thank you to Ashley for taking all of the pictures! You can check out some more of her photography on Facebook at Yve Louden Photography. And thanks to all who were able to make it!
